Mary Emma CROW /John SKINNER

I am trying to find some info. on the above couple. I have John's Death Cert. He died in Melbourne Vic.1913. On the cert. it states he was a Sargeant Major, Drill Instructor, but I haven't been able to find anything in NAA. He was born in Gatton Qld in 1871 and his parents were John Skinner, Railway employee, and Agnes Fleming.They came to Melb. around 1900,and they had 4 children, only one survived, Jack Benjamin Skinner, who was born in 1905 in Ballarrat, Vic.

There was the Victorian Militia -   Perhaps it was a member of this 'army'.  I suggest you google for a time line for the Victoria Militia.

By searching the above bmd website for QLD, you will see about 8 births to this couple including JOHN in 1871.
