Ernest Charles BAKER - Help needed, pleeeease
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 21:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I am tracing my family tree and seem to have hit a brick wall.  I am looking for details of my great grandfather Ernest Charles BAKER.  I know he married Fanny Elizabeth Savill(e) in 1918 in Brentford, but believe he was born in London somewhere in 1895 ?  I would quite like to find out where abouts in London he was from and who his parents were.  I am quite new at this and also the BAKER name is so common, I think I am just getting a bit lost.  I was wondering if someone could help me to point me in the right direction.

Thanks and Best wishes

Hello,

Do you have his marriage certificate. That should have his father's name and occupation, which would help in finding the family on censuses.

If you don't, here are the marriage ref details.

Jun 1918 Brentford, 3a/351
Ernest C Baker
Fanny E Saville

I'll see if I can see any candidates for him in 1901.

There are two Ernest Charles Baker showing on FreeBMD 1- June qtr 1895 St.Geo.Hanover  Square 2- St.Olave Sept qtr 18996

Dozens of Ernest Baker's showing.

You need to buy the marriage cert. so that you can find out his father's name and occupation.

Hello Jennifer

Thank you so much for having a look for me.
I would say the hanover Square could possibly be the one as I do know he was definatley born in 1895.

At least now I have an area in London to focus on.  Did you manage to find anything in the 1901?

Thanks

Julie

Hi,

1901 has just too many choices for Ernest Baker. Similarly, 1911 - dozens of men with that name. I really think that the marriage certificate is the best option as this will at least narrow down the possibilities.
