MYERS born in London, transported to Australia
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 11:47 GMT (UK) »
I have had a brick wall for sometime and hope someone out there may be researching another limb on the Myers family tree.  I am researching Thomas MYERS who was born in London about 1797 and was transported to Hobart Tasmania, Australia in 1817 for stealing a handkerchief.  He was tried with a David Benjamin who being only 11 yrs at the time, got whipped and returned to his parents.  They were tried at the Old Bailey and the court session was written up in the London Paper.
The family story was that Thomas was descendant from "Russians Jews".  I have been unable to locate his birth or parentage.  As a desperation measure I tried looking for David Benjamin and also hit a brick wall there.  I have Thomas's convict papers but his date of birth is not registered on any of the documents only his age.
Regards
