Monmouthshire, Wales
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 05:09 GMT (UK) »
A recent discovery in the course of my research is that indirect family came from Wales.

Ellen James King (I am not sure of the maiden name), married a Frederick Dawson King and they lived in Stockton, Wiltshire, where they brought up their family. They had 5 children as far as I can identify - Frances, Frederick,Clarissa, Emilie and Amy.

I do not know if Ellen married Frederick King in Wales or Wiltshire, and I suppose the information above is very vague.

Just thought I would post this on the off chance that a Rootschatterer might be able to fill in a gap for me.

Hi Kerry

From the 1881 Census both Frederick and Ellen are aged 43, so that would make their DOB as around 1838.

That is amazing!!!

Thanks for your help and the information.

I know from my Irish research that books are available on gravestones for each County - I will see if similar are available for Wiltshire, and try and identify his burial site, or the cemetery at least.

Thanks for that Kerry.

Thanks for the detective work and what you have suggested and looking at the birth dates of the children, makes sense.

I am away on a business trip until Wednesday, so will have a good look when I return.

Its so exciting getting all of the unknown detail from RootChatterers who have such amazing knowledge and experience.

thanks for your input

I`m taking a guess that this is the family in 1881, they have a vistor named Lloyd. He could be related to Ellen.

Hi there

Thanks for the detailed information that you have given.

Still new to format of information provided - would the Piece/Folio etc refer to references from some repository?

Your guess looks good  :) and the DOB ties in with Frederick's information which I have already. I suppose as one gets further back so the assumptions become more of a feature, particularly as the certificates that I have, omit Frederick's parents :(

It it possible to get copies of the relevent certificates, even from a commercial basis?

thanks for your input, the new information and the detective work  again.
