What era are we talking about when Shaws kept it John?
Not sure where Bedworth Hill is/was, I cannot find it on the OS map. I only know of two pubs on the canal in Bedworth, there was the Old Bush in Coalpit Fields Road nearby which had a thatched roof and was burnt down, and the other is the Navigation in Bulkington Road which I believe is still open.

:) forgot to say where I'm talking about if you go down coal pit fields right at the end you come to the canal bridge  if you go over the bridge on the right stood the houses and pub plus stables for the boat hoarse that pulled the boats when they stopped over night or while they loaded the boats in the arm opposite with coal as you look at photo below the bridge to Rights where i mean buildings you see now all new

Know where you mean now John, I used to run Xcountry round there when I was at Nicholas Chamberlaine School fifty years ago but cannot remember seeing a pub there. I know a man/men who will though and will make a phone call later.
Superb photo of the Old Bush in Bedworth As It Was which was published by the Bedworth Echo some twenty odd years ago, also one looking down from Bedworth Banks at row of old cottages in Coal Pit Fields Road and writing mentions Hextall, Bailey and Tallis families and Mrs Hammersley's shop

Have just phoned the man who I mentioned who was brought up in that area and he confirmed that it was the New Inn and was just as you say John. Arthur Shaw died only recently he said and he was in his nineties and lived in Bulkington.
The one thing I forgot to ask was if he had any photos but if you want to ring 024 76 353534 which is the Nuneaton News and ask for Mort Birch I know he would love a chat and would probably have a photo. He is your man for all things Bedworth!

I am related to the Shaw's that ran that pub.  I dont know much about them,  but if you have any info I'd be really happy!  I think that Arthur Shaw's father was my great granddads brother....?
