Hi - and welcome!

Is this the same family as your other DARKE post?

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,439659.msg3029733.html#msg3029733

It seems that you know about the family going forwards into Devon, so you're trying to trace back from Emmanuel, is that right?

I'm not sure about Parish record coverage for this period, but I know a man who might - and a few ladies who visit record offices etc.

What information specifically are you after?

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

The record you found (I think!) is an extracted record from the parish registers and therefore very likely accurate. Looking at the IGI it says that the baptism on 28 Nov 1664 is for John Darke son of Samuell Dark.

At that period it is extremely unlikely that there would be any more information than this in the parish records themselves, although if anyone is going to Gloucester Record Office they could check the entry for you to be sure......

Added - My post crossed with Arranroots's one and she's got more contacts so please do follow up her post!

Especially looking for - Sealey, Rogers, Cannings, Box, Sheppard in Wiltshire; Virgin, Slade, Abbott, Saint, Harper, Silverthorn in Somerset; and Virgin, Tarr, Beer in Devon

And most especially the origins of William Cannings,  a Baptist, born abt 1791 in Broughton Gifford, Wiltshire

??,

You will see below that I have a few family names in Bisley.  I've seached every year from 1608 using the LDS film of Bishop's transcripts (I've hired it three times - found new names!) and I can assure you that the LDS extractions from the film I too used, are very accurate in their present contents providing they are readable and on the film because I found that some years are missing.

I say, "present contents" because if an LDS member found a family name in the BT's and submitted it i.a.w. LDS procedures, the batch entry will now have been deleted and will appear as a submitted entry.  That does not mean that all submitted entries in the IGI were once in an extracted batch - far from it :'(

As there are 651 Dark baptism entries for GLS in the IGI (submitted + extracted) and only three of those are from Bisley and are extractions, you will find no other help unless somebody can search the Parish Register in the Gloster R.O. but that's asking a lot.

You could always hire and search LDS film 417124 but it will not help more than the IGI and there's no LDS film of Bisley PR's - more's the pity for I would have hired it.   :'(

Regards

Chas
