7th manchester regiment.Discharge!!

Hi,could anybody help me with this?Harry Warburton,why was he discharged?also,i have been told that the 7th battalion of the 7thmanchester reg had something to do with Liverpool?? and yes i am blonde.thanks

All parts of Kings Reg 392 on that page, the bit your card has, "xvi" is "No longer fit for war service" one of the usual reasons for discharge

He was discharged under King's Regulation Para 392 (xvi), "No longer physically fit for war service". This may be due to sickness or wounds etc. Some cards have the basic cause on them; eg S for sickness. The actual Silver War Badge Roll may have that info.

The 7th Manchester's were Territorials and were based at Burlington Road, Manchester according to the Long Long Trail. Harry was one of the original draft that went to Gallipoli, via Egypt.

The 7th Battalion Manchester Regiment were a territorial force unit, much like the TA of today. Raised originally for home defense, at the outbreak of war they were asked to fight overseas. As part of the 42nd (East Lancs) division they were the first to go.

The 25th September 1914 (on the card) was the date they arrived in Egypt, they went on to fight in Gallipoli, Egypt again and then to France

The 7th Battalion had no connection to Liverpool in WW1
