You might want to explore the history of Fairford and Brize Norton airfields, both Oxfordshire.  Both were used by the USAF.

Hi Imber
Thank you for your reply & Information,
Its the year of 1948 that is really important, and I would really like to know if the American Military were at Brize Norton during that year or at any bases in the Oxford & or Sussex area during 1948,
I have looked & tried to find the information, but I am not sure where & how to find out for definite?
Kind Regards

A quick Google came up with this website which suggests there were very few USAF bases in the UK in 1948

http://wapedia.mobi/en/United_States_Air_Force_in_the_United_Kingdom#2.

There was some USAF activity at Brize Norton in 1947/8 see

I was stationed at BZ during 1948. My only recollection of anything American, was a derelict Liberator bomber, and a flying visit by a military transport plane, big with twin booms. My memory wants to call it a C48, but that does not seem to match up.

Thank you for your reply wasatbz,
Do you recall any other bases in the Oxfordshire or surrounding Area at that time please that did have American Military based there?or Canadians?
I did find some information saying that there was some American Activity at Brize & surrounding areas in 1948 around the time of the Berlin Airlift although a lot less than there had been in the Oxfordshire Area during the 2ND World War..
I would appreciate any information at all that you may recall.
Regards
GodMother

Sorry I have no memory of coming into any sort of contact with, nor hearing of any Americans in that area at that time.
