So from the above information it may be that Patrick Farrell travelled to the USA as a single person if the 1848 date is correct. (He would only be 18 years old) The death date for father Patrick looks like 1894 which I have found.
27 Oct 1894 Burial 31 Oct 1894. Parents were Patrick Farrell and Ellen Farrell (same names again) Buried Old cathedral Cemetery. His address at the time:- 2507 Federal Ward 36.  The date of birth however would be out - 1839 and age 55 years

www.castlegarden.org do show a couple of Patrick Farrell in 1848 but not the correct age but I suppose we have to take the 1848 date as a rough guide and not an exact one.

Could'nt find Lawrence on the Haverford but found this one:-

UK Incoming Passenger List.

Laurence Farrell. Born 1869. New York to Liverpool. Ports of voyage - Cobh, Queenstown. On the SS Celtic. (White Star Line) Proposed Address :- St Mary's College. Rathmines. Dublin. Clergyman.

Blimey!  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D :) :) :) ;D ;D ;D

So much information to process! :P

I wonder why you can't find a census with them on it before 1880.

Wow! I think you definitly have the right family. Lawrence was priest and part of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost Noviate.

Standby to be amazed.

I AM AMAZED! So much information and this helps so much! Wait a minute! When you say there is a photograph, do you mean a photograph of Lawrence?! If there is an image of him could you please send it to me?

My grandfather remember's seeing a picture of him in his house when he was little & while he was growing up. I was over their house yesterday night and he was saying that he can see this picture in a mental image. I wonder if that is Lawrence and if I show him, because he may be able to tell me if it's him or not!!! This is fantastic!!!

Even though it says his parents were listed as Patrick and Ellen and that he was a couple years off, do you still think that this is the death and burial for the Patrick who was father of Lawrence & Mary?

Thank you for that other death record. I always find it heartbreaking to find a child who died young :(

I'd also like to thank you ever so much! Without your help there would be that other big gap in my tree :( You really took the time to look for everything there may be. :)

This really is a big help and I hope you know that you've really helped me.

Isn't it strange that we really had no progress & had hit a dead end, but just from the information of one brother, it can change everything! It's amazing!

I hope that you may be able to find some more things, or even able to send me that picture, but if you can't, thats still okay :)

It would seem there is another Patrick and Ellen in Philadelphia who also have a son Lawrence born in 10 Sept 1873 Died 19 April 1910 but that family seem to have gone AWOL as well.  ???

I think you have to believe most of the detail in the passport appication because that was given by Lawrence - pity he did'nt tell us about Mum as well !!

Another for the filing cabinet - the age is slightly out again - A death for Ellen Farrell 29 Dec 1897. Buried at Holy Cross. Age 61 years. Widowed. Housekeeper.
