1901 census - Sarah Elizabeth Gittos
« on: Thursday 25 February 10 11:20 GMT (UK) »
I have found my great grandma in law Sarah Elizabeth Gittos on the 1891 cenus RG12 piece 3744 Folio 127 Page 18 age 6 living with her parents, siblings and lodgers but cannot seem to find her anywhere on the 1901 census.  She married Robert Pearce on the 11th of August 1906 and they lived in Batley, West Yorkshire.  I have no idea when she came to yorkshire  The marriage certificate states she was a domestic servant at the time of the marriage so I would assume that she would have come to yorkshire to work.  Any help much appreciated.

Hi Sue,

Not sure but she could be at RG13/3001 79 28 in 1901. The surname isn't clear but going back to 1891 I can't see any other likely candidate for this girl.

The family are living in Yorks at the time of 1891 census???? hadn't you noticed that??
Sarah E is age 6 b Chesterfield Derbys and her sister Margaret is age 6mths and born Normanton Yorks -so the family would have moved between Sarah's birth and late 1890

Sorry Suzard, i'm only human, I make mistakes as do other people.

Thank you Tati I do have access to uk ancestry records but I am struggling to bring up this record.  For some reason I can't get the page where you can enter the census numbers.  I will keep trying.

No need to apologize - I make loads of mistakes -but I didn't mean it to be a "critisism" - just looking back at my post and it does seem as if I am "telling you off" -Sorry -didn't mean it to sound like that.

You probably didn't notice as the family were in Normanton Yorks -and there are more than one Normantons in Derbys!!!

Sue - you have to revert to 'old search' to use the census references. Otherwise try Sarah E Gilson.
