My great grandfather John Whyte, a railwayman, came to South Africa +-1863. He brought his wife, Margaret (nee O'Connell), and their 5 year old daughter Johanna Jane Francis Whyte with them. Margaret O'Connell's father was Patrick O'Connell and mother Margaret Ahern. There may have been other family members with them. They came from the area round Cahirconlish and Templebredon. Does anyone have any information on this family?
