McCalmont
« on: Saturday 19 March 05 21:03 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on John McCalmont & family of Ballymoney, Islandmagee, County Antrim. He had at least 2 sons; Alexander, born about 1854 - died 25 Sept. 1939 & Thomas, born 28 Nov. 1859 - died 14 June 1903 in Letterkenny. Alexander married Elizabeth Jane Colville (born about 1852) in 1st Presbyterian Church, Islandmagee 27 April 1877. Thomas married Bess Patterson & lived on Prospect St., Carrickfergus.
Family grave in St. John's Church, Ballyharry.
I would appreciate any additional data, especially name of wife & other children of John, plus Eliza Jane info and Alexander's second family with Maggie Hill.
Thanks,
J.A.M.                    ;D

Hello JAM

Not sure if your Elizabeth Jane Colville has or will have connections with this Alexander Colville. She did marry in a Presbyterian Church. Anyway just in case. I will extract Alexander's children as found :

Sons: Alexander , Maturine
Daughters: married Mr. Isaac Moreland of Tullindony, Mr. William Blackwell of Belfast a cabinet maker, Mr. Dickson of Dromore, Reverend Isaac Patrick, Minister of Magherally, and Mr. Henry Munroe of Tullylish.

I have transcribed the 1911 Census for Islandmagee, County Antrim. There are very many mistakes Transcribing the National Archives Dublin, although it was good to have what was done.

I have corrected most of the mistakes, although there were a few which I just could not make out what they were. The detail is on an EXCEL worksheet and takes about a minute or so to load. There is a link to download a viewer for those who do not have EXCEL installed on their computer. The link to my website :-
