Hi Scrimnet

I cant see the badges very well at this resolution tbh!   The taller chap at the back - does his badge have 6 points, or is it a return trip to specsavers for me?

Was your man recruited into the RDF, it may be that he was ASC posted to them as a driver? The cap badges are definitely not RDF.

It's just the pixellation at this resolution I reckon...Many badges looked skewed on period pics!  ;D

Thank you, gentlemen.

Your comments have been very helpful.

Both of my grand-uncles enlisted in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
If one of them is included in the photo, it must be the older man, as his younger brother was killed in action in July 1916. I don't have a confirmed picture of either of them.

There is another picture among my mothers things which could possibly be her uncle. The picture is not in my possession right now but I will ask my sister to post it. The soldier is wearing a uniform different from those in the above picture and he has a woman beside him who could possibly be his French wife and I think he resembles one of the soldiers in the above picture.

It might take a few hours to get in touch with my sister.

Eve

Bit of a small scan...But...It is the same uniform...

The woman with him is in mourning...She has a black armband

The pic was taken in the UK...He has black boots on

I can see no resemblance betwixt this chap and any of the others :-[

It was taken around the same time as the other one

As he has his cap tipped up, we cannot see what his cap badge is!!!

Thank you Scrimnet.

Lots of information there but I still don't know which, if any, of the soldiers is my mothers' uncle.

What a pity that few of us ask the questions while the parents and grandparents are still living.

The search goes on.
