How interesting about the rural area and the bit of history. Thank you.
A researcher gave me some names and dates, but I cannot verify them as I did not go to the churches, or do the research myself. But it sounds like the same family. Credit for most dates is given as Lancashire Garstang Parish Registers 1660 1734.
Some things do not work, as you can see:
Barnaby Baines b. abt 1640 d. 1697 Burial: 26 Nov 1697, Wiresdall m. Margaret b. 1703
who had a son, John Baines b. 1640 [ ? !] Nether Wyersdale d. 1729 m. Margaret
John b. abt 1682 Nether Wyersdale
Barnaby b. 1701 in Garstang d.1769 m. Couell 03 Apr 1733 St. Helen's, Garstang b. 1713 Garstang d. 1776)
Thomas (1737-1829) m. Margaret Barton. his occupation: Steward at Claughton Hall. 11 children.
James b. 14 Jun 1775 at Garstang d. Dec 1839 m. Cecily Swarbrick (1775-26 Dec 1852) Says she was a farmer, he was a servant, possibly at Claughton Hall. They had 12 children.
So do we think this James, above, b. 1775, is the same as your 1771 James? It would make sense that the name of Cecily would be still in the family a few generations later. She would be still remembered in 1860.
Sorry I cannot verify any of these dates, again, I have not done research myself.
