Hi

The Law Society Guide on how to trace a solicitor

http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/productsandservices/libraryservices/legalresearchguides/view=article.law?PUBLICATIONID=228200

The opening of the guide states

'The Law Society library is a members-only reference library for solicitors. Our resources for researching family history enquiries are primarily limited to the Law Lists, which are available in a number of libraries. Library staff are unable to carry out research for non-members.'

The National Archives Guide 'Looking for records of a lawyer'

Useful book "My Ancestor Was a Lawyer" - Brian Brook & Mark Heber, pub Society of Genealogists 2006. £10.50 cover price on my copy, not sure if that's the current price.
There may well be a copy in your local FHS collection.

Hey Graham

If that is your name and I have got it right.

Are you saying there might be one in my local Family History Centre or did you mean FHS. if you meant FHC  then I do have a Latter Day Saint chapel near by - do you think they would have one there?

Charles

Always worth a try - I was thinking of your local family history society, but the Family History Centres are wonderful places. Graham
