Hunt Family in Droitwich
« on: Saturday 20 February 10 17:48 GMT (UK) »
Gets confusing when 1901 census says hes a Brummie and the 1911 census says hes from Droitwich. It appears that the latter is correct. I would like to know if there are any Hunts still living in Droitwich. The family I'm searching for lived in the St Peters area and worked on the land. I can't find the details (mislaid them) but the head was Thomas Hunt, wife Mary Anne Hunt and among the children were a Charles Hunt (b 1864) and a Joseph Hunt (b 1870). There were older children too including a daughter. I need to find out if anyone of these (except Charles) has any descendants living there now. Charles was my gt grandfather but his marriage to Harriett Taylor between 1893/94 didn't happen apparently (no luck on GRO) which would mean my paternal gran and all her siblings were officially illegitimate. I'm out to find anything that could lead me to anything about a marriage if it did happen and so, prove whether this particular Hunt family in Droitwich is correct. On both 1901 and 1911, hes living in Birmingham where he lived the remaining years of his life.

Wouldn't know - I haven't traced that far back. My gt grandparents don't appear to have a marriage certificate (or so it appears). The family from Droitwich is just one I found and seems a likely match. Just need that marriage to turn up somewhere (tried everywhere on the GRO, but no luck)

as stated in my first post - that of Charles Hunt to a Harriett Taylor, which according to the 1911 census took place around 1893/94. This is the marriage I need, as to be honest, I haven't got any info on them apart from their deaths.

According to the 1901/1911 census you have ;
Where and when was Harriett born?

Trish, that was the family I found, for it certainly ties in with the supposed DOB for Charles Hunt.
Harriett (or Harriet) Taylor was born either in Worcester or Dudley, depending on which census you look at. The 1901 shows her birthplace as Worcester with her eldest daughters dittoed (which is true, for they were both born within the shadow of Worcester Cathedral). In 1911, she was now apparently born in Dudley. Her age on the 1911 doesn't tally with that on the 1901. In 1901 she was 40 and was down as 49 in 1911. She died of cancer in November 1919 aged 58. Second daughter and my nan Ellen Cook (3 months married at the time) signed her death certificate.
I reckon she was born around late 1860 early 1861.
