Fawcett 1881 Census
« on: Saturday 20 February 10 03:54 GMT (UK) »
Hello All,

I can not find these three people in 1881.
Have searched LDS, Findmypast, and Ancestry.

John Vernon Fawcett b 1850, died 1892
Arthur Fawcett b 1853 - death date unknown
Mary Fawcett, b 18 Dec 1855, married John Cecil Atkinson 14 April 1887

All born at the Vicarage, Kildwick in Craven, West Riding, Yorkshire.

Any suggestions to help finding them most welcome.

Do you have them in the other censuses e.g. John Vernon in 1891?

What was his occupation?
Where was he living?
Was he married?

Three Replies at Once: :)

Wendy - Thank you very much - I had understood these headstones had been ruined in some alterations that were done many years ago - and if I now understand correctly you are the person who took the photos. A wonderful bonus for my Family History Book.

KGarrard - Thank you for your contribution

Heywood - John Vernon died 1892 - I do not know his occupation - I did find some John Fawcett's in 1881 but was not able to narrow the findings down to some one I thought was correct - and no, I have not looked at 1891.

Again, thank you all for extending my knowledge of this family.

There are many reasons why they can't be found in 1881.

Maybe they are in Scotland or Ireland?
Or even Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey?

They could be in some other country?

There could be a transcription error - there are lots of those!

Finally, I assume you have traced the family in all other censuses?

Did anything happen to the family c 1862?

There is an entry for John Vernon as an Old Westminster (having attended Westminster School)
born March 3rd 1850
admitted September 26th 1861
left August 1862
died August 3 1892

It seems to be a short lived school career unless it is a misprint.

I am sure you know this but the best thing is to get the death certificate to see if there are any clues re occupation and informant.
