Hi Geneaglutton.

It`s ages since I did anything with this family so mucst go through all my papers. As I said this wasn`t a direct line but do remember I got really involved trying to find a connection between the 2 Craig branches.

It may take a couple of days before I can answer you, but will def. get back to you.

Cheers, Mary.

Are you from Hawaii?

My apologies, Mary.  I picked up your post via Google and completely forgot we had already exchanged some thoughts.  No rush.

Yes, I'm in Hawaii.

Aloha.

Hi, I can only find three children for Mary and John, William, Jane and George. I found William as "PRESENT AT MOTHERS DEATH". You say there were others, Mary and John, do you have birth dates. G

I think Geneaglutton is the one who could answer this. he mentions that John Craig and Mary Gartshore had 4 children, Jane, George, Mary and John.

I haven`t been doing anything on this branch lately as it`s far out on my tree. Good luck.

Mary

Dear grandma,

I apologize for not posting sooner.  Health problems.

I've lost track of the questions in this thread, so my answer might not be helpful.  Agnes Craig married John McLay on 9 Jun 1871 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire.  John was the son of Richard McLay and Catherine McFarlane.  I believe Agnes was the daughter of William Craig and Jean O'Neil.  Their children were Richard, Archibald, Jane Neil, Catherine McFarlane and William McLay.  My marriage data comes from the parish register.  Richard's birth is in the International Genealogical Index.  There's a tree contributed to Ancestry.com that says Archibald was adopted, and his mother was Isabella Wallace.  I found the family in the 1881 census in Hamilton with John's father Richard and the 1901 census in Holytown, Bothwell with Agnes' father William Craig.

My knowledge of Agnes Craig's grandparents, John Craig and Mary Gartshore, is more extensive.  Let me know if that is where your interest lies.  I promise to answer more promptly.
