Hi - I too am a member of the 'Blo(o)mfield Hunters', as some of you already know.  The most recent Blomfield in my family was Eliza Blomfield, born Woolpit, Suffolk 1824.  She married Robert Southgate, born 1817, Needham Market, Suffolk, and they are my 3x gt grandparents.

Interestingly, Justine, we also have a family story that there was gypsy blood in the family in either the Southgate or Blomfield line.

I haven't had a chance to check out all the info posted in this thread yet, but shall look forward to doing so when I have a bit of time to spare.

Regards,

Re Mary Bacon who married Thomas Blomfield 3.2.1602, I see on my same pedigree, that Anne Blomfield 22/6/1607,  daughter  brother Henry Blomfield of Mickfield 1535  ( which is my direct line) married one, Thomas Bacon of WINSTON, hmm the plot thickens as there were  a lot of Bacons in Winston..maybe someone can link these......as Thomas was a Winston Bacon, maybe Mary Bacon was to? related ?:>)

Hi,

I too have a few Bacon's on my tree and am assuming somewherre they are all related to each other as the location is local to one another - I've not really looked into the Bacon family much!

I have
Mary Bacon 1560 m Thomas Blomfield
(that'll be Lady Grace's)

Dorothy Bacon m John Sulyard
(both Sulyard and Bacon families connected to Blomfields)

Agnes Blomfield m Thomas Bacon

Catherine Bacon

and then the direct line back
Roger Bacon
Henry Bacon
Henry Bacon
Robert
Richard
Reginald
etc etc....

Most of the 'Norman' familes seemd ot like to 'keep it in the family' if you get me and  there are a lot of intermarrying of a few families within and into each other over several generations.

Have fun
Yi

PS

Lady Grace's Anne Blomfield is my Agnes Blomfield 1607 - Debenham

Anne Blomfield 22/6/1607

Anne and Agnes seem to be interchangable at this time period - either being used.

Yi

PS just for those of you who don't know Lady Grace and I do have the same Blomfields branches on our trees.

Lady Grace (as she says) is decended from the Mickfield Blomfields
and I am decended from the Stonham Blomfields.

It is 'possibly assumed' but not confirmed that John of Stonham (brother of my ancestor) is the founder of the Bury line and produced the Henry of Mickfield line.

Hence a fair bit of Lady Grace's and my tree will be the same.

Would some kind person like to look up some of the Bacons in WINSTON?, we have a Mary Bacon  c 1580 who married our Thomas Bloomfield 1602 ,  she I think may have been born in Winston as she cannot be found in Mickfield, and a Thomas Bacon  c 1600? in ?? he married our Anne Blomfield baptised in 22.6.1607 Denbenham, many thanks :)
