Chaloner family
Hi I'm looking for the birth parents of Charles Chaloner born Jan. 24, 1800. Holt Denbighshire. He was a gardener. He married Elizabeth Pickering. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There were no census records to find families and I don't know how to find his parents names or sibling. thanks

The IGI says they got married in Chester St Oswald on 19 March 1821

Sarah

(You might find parents on their marriage cert if that parish kept detailed records)

Are you sure you have the correct place of birth? There is a Charles Chaloner baptised in Ormskirk Lancashire on 24 March 1800, parents John and Jane

Thankyou for what you have found. I have a christening Jan 24, 1800. The spelling is sometimes Challoner. The information I got from a cousin is George Chaloner and Mary? both born 1759. I'm trying to find out if this is correct so I can then try to find George's parents names. I was given Charles and Mary. thanks again

Well in my experience the IGI doesn't have everything so if your family has already done research it is probably correct

Do you have an Ann Challonor (born abt 1806)in any of your information with father John Challonor.

She married a Charles Clarke in Marylebone Middlesex in 1841

Ann is my 3xGrandmother but I cannot find any other information on her at the moment

It would be great if you have.  I dont think Challonor is that common a name :)

Hi Teaurn
Where was your grandmother born. My relatives come from Holt Denbighshire wales. Have you tried different spelling of your last name because there are a lot of variances. Edie

I'm linked to the Chaloner/Challoners from Holt. Indeed I have a lot of them on my tree.

I live just five miles away.

It's funny how the gardening trait has been passed down and even until recently there were growers in the family.

Hi Gene Genius
Maybe we have information we can share. My grandfather was Frederick Charles Chaloner born in liverpool, and his father was John Chaloner b. 1855 in Holt, and John's father was Job Chaloner b. 1831 Holt, and Job's father was Charles b. 1800 Holt. I'm trying to confirm his parents and grandparents. Since I live in Canada I don't know how far apart different towns are for the research. My email is (*)  thanks Edie

Hi Chaloner edie

It depends which census I look at but common theme is Middlesex - St MartinLe Grand, St Pancras,

Have a copy of Ann Challonor marriage cert  dated 12 April 1841 John Challonor - father - was a carpenter.

Any information you might have would be greatfully received.  Not sure how common a name it was/is

Teaurn :) :)
