have just v recently started this search, so have not yet got any papers and not even sure if my grandfather and g/mother's marriage was legal, she was an aboriginal and they had no rights when they married so although approved by the aboriginies board at the time not many records are available am just waiting to hear from national australian archives

had a peep at the latest census that would show him, and allowing to some extent for spelling, the only 2 close names are in Essex, but both are a tad older than your man. (one a year plus, and the other is aged 8 months in the April of that year)

UPDATED:  there is a MANKETLOW child with no forename shown in an INSTITUTION in TICEHURST - born 1911

let me know if you find out more, perhaps also an immigration date?  You can ask for a search on passenger lists

===================================

I assumed from another thread you posted on that Frederick M was born in England.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,133338.msg3018313.html#msg3018313

The info shown is the English General Records Office Birth Index entry for an individual who is the closest to the date you gave. Births are indexed within a 'quarter' of a year, by District (not actual birthplace), Volume and Page. That info will allow you to order the original paperwork and see full details of parents, place etc.

given that the Birth entry I saw showed a mothers maiden name of Foreman, with a little digging it can be seen that a Lucy Foreman married a George Mank* in the late 1890s; they can be seen in the 1901 and 1911 census with plenty of kids.

Perhaps the Frederick seen in an Institution was in a hospital or similar, as not with his family ?

altho, (from your other thread) no good link here with a middle name of Douglas  :(
