Beattie Lookup 1861 or 1871
« on: Saturday 19 March 05 09:20 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please do a lookup for William & Mary Beattie & family in the 1861 or 1871 Census.

I know they had a daughter Elizabeth about 1860,  I think they were from the Silloth area.

Thank you

Wow Pauline that was quick,

Thank you so much I do think they could be our branch of the family.

Silloth is on the same coast as Workington with Aspatria & Maryport in between them.

Hi Geordilass.
My Grandmother was Jane Ann Beattie, actual birthplace in cumberland unknown, she was born around 1880 and married to Joseph Clark Hetherington in Great Clifton, Cumberland, It is quite possible we are related , they had I think; 12 Children. If you find anything interesting in your searches I would be grateful to hear from you because as of now, I have hit a wall......................Thanks...............Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,

Elizabeth Beattie's parents were William & Mary Jane Beattie   maiden name Coulthard.  Elizabeth had a sister named Jane Ann Beattie,  brothers Joseph Lowes Beattie & John William Beattie and a few other siblings.........so we could be connected.

Elizabeth Beattie was my great grandmother and she married John Haughan Taylor 1883.  This John Taylor is my brick wall as he should no parents on marriage certificate and he was dead before 1891 census.

My cousin & I found 9 children but not all of them are confirmed.

I had a Hannah Beattie born in Mawbray (Abbey Holme parish) about 1804, but never found her baptism, or her marriage. The ones there in 1841 & 1851 were nailers.

Hi Stephen

The Hannah Beattie you mention born 1804 Abbey Holme was my 3x Gt Grandmother. She married William Fearon and died in Keswick in 1874.Both Hanah and William are buried in the St Johns Church Keswick but their headstones are missing or have been overturned.I too cannot find her baptism or marriage records anywhere and I am unlikely to as I do not live in the UK so cannot visit the Carlisle Records Office to search manually. Any other info you find about Hannah would be very much appreciated by me.Best of luck
