Thought before I gave up on the 1851, I would have a look on FindMyPast as opposed to A****y.  Anyway found a Richard Johnson born c1847 and using the advanced search facility he is living with a Robert Wright 1814, Hannah Wright 1825 and Isabella Wright 1778.  Cannot find them at all on A*y aaargh!

The age of Hannah fits with the 1861 census as does Richard's.  Also there is a death on wwwyorkshirebmd.org in 1855 for a Robert Wright, aged 42 (c1813), which also fits nicely.

Also looked up Robert and Isabella Wright on the 1841 census and they are both cowkeepers, which I am sure would fit in with Dairyman on Thomas's marriage cert.

Thanks Carole, Trish, Katherine
a lot to think about here.  I will check the Parish Records for Hannah's father's name on her marriage to Richard Thompson. I should get the birth certificate for Thomas to confirm Hannah's maiden name.

Katherine, it was most interesting your comments on the Wright family of cowkeepers. I had come across this 1851 census entry before and then lost the record. I posted on here and someone found it for me - I seem to remember it was not on Ancestry as some pages were missing, I think the address was North Street, Hull. The head of the household was a widow and then I was confused as Robert & Hannah were both said to be married yet their relationship to the head was "cowkeeper's son & daughter.
Interestingly there were 2  x 4year old grandsons looked like Richard Johnson and Charles Thompson. Hmm.
Looks like you and Carole could be right and I had the wrong Robert & Hannah.
Thanks again everyone

Hi Linda,

- I seem to remember it was not on Ancestry as some pages were missing, I think the address was North Street, Hull.

This was also the address in 1841 as follows (all were born in county):

65 North St, Holy Trinity Hull (H0107/1231, Folio 9, Page 11)
Isabella Wright, 60, Cow Keeper
Robert       "     , 25,    "      "
Ann Mercy        , 15, D. Serv
James Wright,      5

Missed off that the Hannah's fathers name on the 1850 marriage entry was Thomas Johnson.

Thanks for all the info Katherine - you have really put yourself out for me and I am most grateful.

This family look much more likely - everything seems to fit in nicely. Even Richard born c1847 - I had been unable to find him on any census.
If he was born to Hannah Johnson (illegitimate) of course he would have been Richard Johnson. Presumably after Hannah married Robert Wright 1850 he was either adopted by Robert or just took his name (did the lower classes legally adopt then?).

The death of  the Robert Wright 1855 fits with my Robert's age and allows for the birth of Mary born c1855 and Hannah's remarriage in 1859.

The information on Thomas Wright's marriage entry of his father being a deceased dairyman also fits. Really need to get Thomas Wright born c1853 birth cert. to confirm Hannah's maiden name.

The entry on 1851 census showing 4 yr old Charles Thompson - wonder if there is a link there?

Thanks again

Got the Birth Certificate for Thomas Wright born Hull 1852 and yes, his mother's maiden name was Johnson. Everything fits nicely now. Thanks everyone for all your help.
