CASTLE Family
« on: Monday 15 February 10 19:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I have been researching my family tree for a number of years now, and have hit a dead end.  The earliest relative I can find is Gregory Castle born 1620 in Norton Hertfordshire.  He married Elizabeth Warner 17th March 1647/8.  I know he has a brother William, who also married, but I am unable to research any further, as I don't know where else to look.  I am a member of ancestry, and have used familysearch to get this far, along with freebmd.  Does anyone know of any other sites for this far back that I can use.

Your input would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Julie

Hi Petercas,

I just wondered if anyone has managed to go any further than Gregory, or even has information about his possible siblings, as I am at a dead end now.  I have found many family members I did not know existed through various sites, but am at a loss now to continue.

Thanks
Julie.

Hi Julie,
Guess I've got to post this before I am allowed to use the personal message system. Have traced probable parents/siblings for Gregory in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, which is just about a mile from Norton. Gregory's son, Willliam, moved from Norton to next door Baldock and was prob the first Castle in that town as I cannot find any Castle entries in the Baldock Parish register prior to his arrival. My ancestors come down that line and some later moved to Letchworth when the Garden City was completed. Some moved back to Norton.
Gregory married again following the death of Elizabeth, who died probably giving birth to Martha, but he died very soon after this second marriage.
Have read the Norton/Baldock/Stotfold parish registers several times but I've no doubt I still have a lot to do. I guess its a question of how deep you want to go into cousin lines and sometimes I think I've perhaps gone over the top. Ah well!!!
Hope to hear further from you and most interested to see where you come into the tree.
                                              Regards
                                                Peter

Welcome!

How lovely that you and Peter have managed to find eachother. :)

As RootsChat is primarily a site dedicated to family history and not recent events, it may be better for you to discuss any recent family business by Personal Message and not on the board.  You will need to have made at least 3 posts to be able to use the system.

http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php

You are very welcome to exchange family history in excess of around 100 years on the boards though.

Best Wishes

Rick :)

Charles Castle, a master baker, b. Ware 1824, son of Joseph and Susannah of Ware, married Emma Vyse 1845 in Hertford.  They had at least 9 children, one being Robert George Castle born 1848 in Ware.  Are you researching the same line by any chance?  Regards Amanda
