WW1
« on: Monday 15 February 10 18:31 GMT (UK) »
I  hope someone can maybe help me.
I know my grandfather was in WW1 and he must have been very young because he was born in 1899.
I have his details
Albert Ernest John LeFevre
Royal Fusiliers - Unit 23rd
No   77955
85 Collison St, Queens Buildings, Southwark

You would think that with all this info I could find what my grandad did in the war but I have had no luck.  He was an invalid, gassed I believe, and I always remember him as struggling for breath.
I also have two medals that he received - but that is all I know.
Perhaps someone can help?
Regards    Pauline

Thank you for that Ady - at least I know he was in Boulogne in 1915.
Can I find out more from his two medals?

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/medals.asp?WT.hp=Campaign Medals - £2

Hi
He would have been a replacement not original draftee, His number will be on rims of medals.
According to the medal cards he wont have served overseas til after Jan 1916 entitled to british war and victory medals.

Hi
I managed to find Albert LeFevre's medals but I haven't been able to find George Sims WW1.
I know he got the Military Medal because I remember seeing the paperwork and a pic of the actual medal

Hello Pauline,

He has two medal index cards.
Here are the NA search results. I'll have a look at the cards on Ancestry later, if I get a chance:
