Thanks for the reply - they had another child in 1844/45, 2 years after the one in the image, although I cannot find any birth record for her. She always stated in census and marriage certs that her mother was Elizabeth Crawford. It could be possible that she died giving birth to the Elizabeth in 1844/5, and then the husband remarries in the December of 1845. A mystery!

Sorry; I hadn't read your original posting closely enough and thought the writing was on Elizabeth's baptism.

I see that an Elizabeth CRAWFORD died on 4 Nov 1843 in Bute (Cumbrae) but I have no idea what her age was.

I have the death you are speaking of, but it's for the rent of the mortcloth for a child, cost 4 shillings. I've attached the image. Thanks again.
