Holbeck Workhouse

Hi
 I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me.  I'm trying to find out if there are any records of inmates when it was 2 Langford Place.  Birth certificate says born 2 Langford Place, but was wondering if siblings were there as well.
Any help much appreciated.

1923 surname on birth certificate is Wade but dearth cert has Wade and Rodwell. 1st name John

have a look on this site,,just enter holbeck in the search box.....some record survive,,but looks like only up to 1914,,,,you will still find the site of interest.

I think you'll find the address on the birth certificate should read  2 Lane End Place, Holbeck.
This address was used on birth certs from 1904.

Check out the link supplied by Gortonboy. It's an excellent site but I fear you're going to struggle with census information post 1911.

Holbeck Workhouse also had even until the start of the second world war and beyond a real stigma.  On the Leodis website, there is mention of whole families living in workhouse properties and the children attending local schools such as Hunslet Carr and Bewerly Street, St Matthew's etc.
The children had ordinary street addresses so that their records would not in future years carry the 'workhouse' as part of their history.  One small boy said he was happy at school but he never took children home to his house to play just in case they found out where he lived. Try the Leodis site and you may come up with one of those alternatives
