In reply 1 - James Rasmussen (son of Emmanual and Elizabeth) appears to be Rasmuss James Rashmussen.
This name appears as a British Colunbia death on 2 Dec 1979. Burns Lake British Columbia.
Age 74 years. The age is a couple of years out but one to bear on mind.

I cannot find any entry for the family in the USA. Since Emmanuel stated he was going to brother Francis  in Rainy River when he went in 1920, it is looking more likely Emmanuel and Elizabeth were also in Canada.  The other son Samuel Lauritz was also married in Canada.

This may need to move to the Canada board.  ;D

Maybe this is another name you could ask about.

Elizabeth Rasmussen (wife of Francis)  was listed on detroit border crossings on 6 July 1942.
She states her birthplace as McDuff. Seal and was going to visit her sister Mrs Joe Smythe.
Perhaps this is the Detroit connection ?  ???

Hi Amstel,

I've checked many different spelling variations of Emmanuel/Immanuel/Manuel/Manny etc also Rasmussen/Rosmussen/Rasmassen/Rasmossen etc but nothing in the USA.

Go back to reply 4 and the permanent country of residence is Canada in 1933.

Hi Amstel,

Think this is another of Emmanuel's brothers.  Juan M Rasmussen was born abt 1888 Aberdeen.
Canada ocean arrivals (Form 30a) shows John Maxwell Rasmussen born 1888 Aberdeen. Travelling from Glasgow to Halifax. Nova Scotia Feb 1921 on the SS Cassandra. Married. He is a marine engineer, never lived in Canada before. Religion Presbyterian. Going to his brother Mr Emmanual Rasmussen. Rainy River. Ontario.  His mother is Mrs Jessie Rasmussen of Muchella.
