Baptist marriages CHAMBERLAIN/HALLAM
« on: Tuesday 09 February 10 19:31 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for a birth and marriage record for Samuel Hallam (born 1800 in England) and Ann Chamberlain born 21 Oct 1799 Nottingham (recorded at Broad Street Baptist Chapel).  She lived in St Mary's Nottingham.   Parents were William and Ann Chamberlain.

As both are Baptists, how easy will this be?  Searching on Ancestry revealed nothing except an 1841 census entry.  They then went to Canada and I have info for there.

Samuel and Ann Hallam's first child Emily was born 1823 so marriage sometime before then. A lot of their children were baptisted at Dudley Baptist Chapel, Warwickshire: Priscilla, Ebenezer, Emily and Leonara in the 1830s.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Before 1837 it wasn't possible to marry in a Baptist chapel. They would have had to marry in a C of E church, so you will need to find out where they married.
Normally the marriage took place in the bride's home parish which should have been St Marys, but she may have moved from Nottingham before her marriage.

Thank you for this.  I have since discovered their marriage via familysearch.org - IGI.   It was in Tamworth, Stafford on 25 Dec 1822.  I cannot find this on Ancestry.co.uk which is a bit odd.
Thanks for the info about Baptist marriages being in C of E churches.
