Charles Giles & Lydia Pine
« on: Tuesday 09 February 10 00:58 GMT (UK) »
I have a copy of the Marriage Certificate from the GRO for Charles GILES and Lydia PINE 11th August 1851 in the Parish of Stepney in the County of Middlesex. It states that Charles, a Stone mason, was the son of Henry GILES, a labourer, and Lydia, was the daughter of William PINE, a Butcher.
I have not been able to find any census results for a Charles with a father Henry. I did find one result with a father James and mother Rebecca.
I am hoping that someone could help shed some light on Charles' family.

Thanks for you reply. Here is more info on the pair. Charles' death certificate shows date of death as 4 Jan 1886 aged 57, so dob abt 1828. Lydia's death certificate shows date of death as 12 Jun 1915 aged 81, so dob abt 1834. The marriage certificate shows their ages as "full", witnesses are "E Pine" and "Reyna Pine". I believe that they are 2 of Lydia's older siblings.
The couple emigrated to Australia aboard the "Ellenborough" in 1854 with their two sons Charles Henry b. 31/5/1852 Stepney, and William b. abt 1853 Stepney. I also believe that Lydia had a child, Mark Capien Pine, before she was married, and he was sent to "Childrens Establishment Stepney Union"

Hello,

what was Charles' occupation on his marriage certificate.
1851 has one with a mother Rebecca (probably the one you have) who is a Clerk (stockbroker).
Does that help?

Charles was a Stonemason.
The 1851 census with Rebecca is the one I did find.

Thanks Mark
