The McGroddys would be buried in the graveyards by St. John The Baptist church in Umlagh townland near Carrigart.

There are various McGroddy lines in the townlands around Carrigart.
Have you any more details to indicate which family of McGroddys your Dominic belongs to?

I have in my tree that Dominick McCready was married to Ann Boyce. Ann died in Scotland in 1885 a widow. Her husband Dominick was a stonemason like the one i found dying in Carrigart.
They had the following children: Michael, Manus, Mary. Daniel and Denis.
I know that my family originated in Coole Cranford and their names were McCrody/ McGruddy beofre being McCready. This was due to my great grandfather arriving in Scotland and being unable to write his name was noted as McCready at his wedding here in Scotland in 1870.
I proved they came from Cranford by using DNA with the late Manus McCreadie of Coole Cranford.
I have meen to the churchyard at Carrigart and Milford and photographed all the McCreadie/ McGruddy/ McGroddy stone I could find. Due you know when the churchyard had its first burial and who holds the lair registers?
I believe Ann left Donegal when her husband died and came to Scotland to stay with her sons.

regards, John McCreadie Glasgow:

I forgot to say, Ann Boyce parents were Denis Boyce and Mary Coyle. Ann Boyce would have been born about 1816.
There were no parents names given on the death certificate of Dominick McGrody,

Hi John.

The old Catholic church was built in Umlagh in 1807.
For hundreds of years before that mass was celebrated in the open.
The new St. John The Baptist church was begun in 1868 but not finished until 1886.

I’m not sure what , if any, burial records were kept at any time but you could try contacting the parish priest Fr. Charlie Byrne.
Phoning from Glasgow the number for the Parochial House is 00353 74 55154
Best of luck
