Having said that:

Births Jun 1838   (>99%)
Hedges    John Cooper        Aylesbury    6   309

Surname     First name(s)     Age     District     Vol     Page
Marriages Mar 1864   (>99%)
Clare    Elizabeth        Amersham    3a   413
Clare    John         Amersham    3a   413
Fincher    Elizabeth         Amersham    3a   413
Hedges    John Cooper         Amersham    3a   413

Very curious indeed!

I think we have two different Joseph Hedges marrying two different Eliza/Elizabeth Coopers.

As I suspected:

A quick question:

Do we have any proof that the Sarah Ann Eastwood who married Jeremiah Hedges was the one born in September Quarter of 1856?

I just feel this isn't her.

The baptism of a Sarah Anne Eastwood, daughter of James Eastwood and Sarah, in Hadlow in 1850, fits much better for her.

Do we have her on a census anywhere?

Just wish to mention something relating to the ARNOLD'S mentioned earlier.
Many years ago I called into Chatham Ref. Library and photocopied some old (1932 is the earliest but mostly 1960 ish) and some not so old news clippings about Gypsies most relate to an area known as Sugar loaf Hill, Chatham, Kent. A Gypsy encampment.
I have a list of names that I have extracted from the clippings that include ARNOLD and many others that may be of interest to others researching Travellers from the area .
Do you think I should put this list of names on a separate thread.
some of the family mentioned in these news paper clippings include....
ARNOLD
EASTWOOD
BRAZIL
SMALL
PERFECT
PRINGLE.  Middlesex, London
WELLS. Norwich, Norfolk
HEDGES. Kent, Essex and Sussex
EATON. Staffordshire

The whole link to Burwash, Sussex confuses me though.

The Burwash Eastwoods are traceable.  However, there's Eastwoods in Kent in the 18th century as well... so I have this feeling that John Eastwood who married Harriet Jennings maybe unrelated to the Burwash Eastwoods, despite being born there.  I don't know... hmm.

Perhaps this is a silly question but has someone checked Windsor parish records or put out a request to get them checked?
No I haven't. Is that possible.

Perhaps at the Berkshire board, someone maybe willing to be of assistance.  It's worth a try.

I don't believe Old Windsor is on the IGI.  Of course, he could have been non-conformist as well.  There also is a chance he hasn't been christened but I still definitely think it's worth your while asking, you never know!

James What should I put on the Berkshire board. I have no idea any suggestions.

That's a coincidence...

I was just over at the Berkshire board and noticed posts about a Jeremiah Hedges of Farrington, Berkshire.

However, I'm not sure if there is a link.  His father was also a William Hedges, I believe.

Sue (aka Jamajo) has been posting in that thread, so she may know more.

But yes... you can post a request looking for a possible baptism/christening for a Job Hedges, in Windsor (or a parish nearby) for about 1821 (give or take 5 or so years).  With a possible father named William Hedges and possible siblings as well.

Well just checked it and the Jeremiah the father was a tailor, his son Jeremiah was a bootmaker

not sure it will be any of your family though Jenny.

I also done look-ups for a Charles Hedges occ tailor who married a Mary Cooper

b Faringdon. They married in 1829 and one witness was a Benjamin Cooper.

Not sure that these will link with yours Jenny but names of their children are unusual.  Having

searched these PRs i do know there were travellers in Faringdon also other places nearby.

If you go to Berkshire Look-up Requests board you will see all info on different Hedges families

that i have looked into ;D ;D
