Hello Joyce
Have I found yet another relative on the Hedges side of the family. The address 9 Regents Court was the address that my nan Eliza Hedges gave when she married my grandfather Tommy Hughes in 1914. I haven't managed to find Regents Court. I think that it was somewhere near the New Road in Chatham. I am always after photographs. Do you have any of the Hedges family?
Best Regards
Peter

In reply to your message, yes I do have a photo, but I'm not sure how to send it. I will send as soon
as I get someone to help me. Other address's that they lived in, were,Best street,Russel square,
Hoopers road Rochester, and Princess street, Rochester. Grandad (Henry Hedges) also used the name Carter-Hedges. My uncle, William Hedges now lives in Gillingham.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any information on Henry Hedges, born 1891, father also Henry, mother was
Rose Ann Carter, parents weren't married at the time. Henry born 1891, married Margaret Boswell on
24 August 1914. I'm unable to trace anything on Margaret, except that she was born about 1892,
and died 11 August 1935. Henry and Margaret had many children, some didn't survive, but the others
were, William Rose, Ellen, Margaret, Joyce and George.
Thanks, Joyce

Hi Joyce,
your grandfather was my Nan's brother. l heard he was a very nice man. My mum Mary lived opposite Henry and Noony (Margaret Boswell) in Best St. Chatham. They all went away fruit picking to Iwade, where the farmer took my mum and Ivy to the little village school. they travelled with his own two children like stunt riders on his motorbike mum tells me. It was while they were away that Noony went into labour. She walked all the way back to Chatham on her own to Best st. when the others realized she had gone they returned to find her in a very bad way. Unfortunately she died soon after they returned. my mum was about ten at the time and remembers the funeral vividly.

l have quite a few stories that mum used to tell me when l was a little girl. She,s a brilliant story teller and l was fascinated. l have related a lot of them in my autobiography that l am working on.

Unfortunately l have no photos other than the ones Peter kindly let me have. l would be pleased however, if you have any l can share. if you would like any more information that maybe l can help with, don't hesitate to ask.

best wishes
Tricia

hi joyce,
they are brilliant. thanks. Nell hasn't changed a bit. Although l had never seen a picture of Henry when he was young, you can tell he is family just by looking at him. My nan was Rose Ann Hedges. Everyone knew her though as Annie Giddins. Aunt Annie. Just noticed your name is Campbell. Not related to the Campbells in Chatham? My nans best friend was Kate Campbell. l was brought up in Chatham but moved to Suffolk in later life.
Best wishes
Tricia

Hi Tricia,
I remember a George Giddings,I know he used to go and help my uncle George on his smallholding in Upchurch, picking cherries. I'm not sure if Iv'e spelt his name right. My mother was Margaret Mary Ann. I was married to Stanley Campbell, he used to live in Great South Avenue. Date of his birth was
11-03-1941, we parted in 1982, and he died in1998.
Regards Joyce Campbell.
