Tried running as admin. but Ancestry got bogged down trying to install the viewer.I think I'll flick between IE8 & Firefox or use memory stick.

Jim, there is a Firefox plugin "IE View" which lets you load pages in IE with a single right-click, or mark certain sites to always load in IE. Seems to have good reviews and would save you switching between Firefox & IE manually

I've had the same problem. So now, when I want to download anything from Ancestry, I switch to Googlechrome.

Find it odd that, with all the 'updates' they've done lately (causing much upset) they haven't sorted this problem yet.
