Seeking advice please
« on: Saturday 06 February 10 20:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone

On the 1911 Irish census I found my grandfather's brother in Newcastle Ireland with his wife and child (see below)

1911 Irish census
Residents of house number 12 in Main Street (Newcastle, Down)
Ellis Walter 34 Male
Ellis Alice Catherine 32 Female
Ellis Walter Alfred Charles 4 Male

What I need advice on and have absolutely no idea how to find anything in Ireland is:

* Did they have more children
* Did they stay in Ireland
* Did they die in Ireland
* Are they records showing travel between Ireland and UK

I doubt very much that they belong to the Catholic faith.

We have managed to fill in details for every other child of my great grandparents but this one has eluded us for a very long time and  it would be nice to fill in the gaping holes in our tree

Any advice on how to follow through will be greatly appreciated

The 1911 census lists the Ellis family's religion as "Church of England St. Luke's Camberwell"

Ireland was part of the U.K. and records weren't kept of people travelling between Ireland and England, Wales and Scotland.

It is usually more difficult to get 'recent' information online. Index to Irish civil registration goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties-

Thank you for your reply.

What a pity parents names are not given on the civil registrations

It's just the index but to get full details you need to order the certificate.
