Robert W. McDonald lived on Caledonia Road in Saltcoats in March 1926. He signed my mother's birth cert. along with her mother, Jane Little Lambie, who was born Sept. 18, 1898. Jane married David Lambie May 2, 1919 at Manse, Kilwinning. Jane already had 3 children with David when my mom was born. Jane’s family moved to New Jersey, USA. My mother was born March 27, 1926 at 1 Hill St., Garnethill Glasgow. Her birth name was Jean Waddell McDonald. A nurse named Jessie Crawford C.M.B. was listed in the postal directory at the same address. Mr. Collins thinks maybe Jessie was a midwife who delivered my mother. The birth registration was sent on April 7th, 1926 to Kilwinning District 599 entry 51. My mother was adopted by Joseph and Margaret Gray Cumming Wood, but didn’t legally adopt her until November 15, 1937, 007/AR. Entry 393. He thinks my mom was kept in the extended family. Margaret’s mother was Ann McDonald Cumming. Joseph Wood had told my mom that a William Waddell was her father and he lived in Rothesay. Margaret just cried when mom asked her about her father, so I have no idea what really happened... I have more information (except for Robert) if you need it let me know. I didn’t want to write a book here. My scanner is having a problem so I had to write out most important parts.
