BROOKES-Ann of Gornal Village, Staffordshire
« on: Thursday 04 February 10 14:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi From Down Under,

Would any kind person be able to help me find the parents of Ann Brookes b 18 Dec 1822. I suppose she may go under the name of Anne or Hannah?

She married William Marsh around 1842 and was alive and widowed and living at 7 Askewbridge Rd, Lower Gornal in the 1881 Census.

Would dearly love to trace her further and thankful for any help,

Pilgrims Progress  :)  :)  :)

It is a big jump from her as a 62 yr old widow in 1881 back to finding her parents.
If we could work backwards a step at a time and pinpoint the marriage, then the cert would give a fathers name for her, which might help.

How do you know husband was William and maiden name Brookes? I guess therefore that you do have some info earlier than 1881. Would be helpful to know!

Several Wm Marsh marriages in Dudley reg Distr around the 'right' time, but none with Ann Brookes as a bride
Have you got a child's birth cert to confirm that as her maiden name?
