US Census Look up Request
« on: Tuesday 02 February 10 21:59 GMT (UK) »
I woud be grateful if someone could look up some of my ancestors who immegrated to the US.

The first is the 1910 Census;
Micheal Halligan, born in Co Kilkenny, Ireland in 1885.  He arrived in Ellis Island in 1909.  At the time his sponsor was his uncle Patrick Phelan with an address in Searing Avenue, East Newark.

This Patrick Phelan himself travelled to the US in 1895, he should be in the 1900 Census.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Anc..try tree has a Michael Halligan born 1885 County Kilkenny married to a Mary Quann.
Not much info but 2 children born Ireland John and Anna - 2 children in USA Billy and Eileen.
Michaels death on this one is 1951 County Kilkenny.  Does this ring any bells ?  ???

Patrick Phelan was born in Co Kilkenny, Ireland around 1873.  Hope this helps.

That Family Tree sounds spot on.  Can you tell me how can I access it??

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Moinear.

It would need an anc...try subscription - i will have another look but I don't think it gave any further information. Meanwhile I'll take a look at Patrick to see what I can find.  There were quite a number of Michaels and Patricks with those surnames that could have been them - its trying to narrow the search to get the right one.  ;D

Any more clues you night have may help us find them.  ???
This is a possibility -  looks like Patrick Phelan born Aug 1873 in Ireland and living on the 1900 census at East 39th Street. Manhattan, New York. Servant. Immigrated 1894 No further information. Living with a family and other roomers/lodgers etc.
Patrick Phelan Age 27  ???
Looking at the passenger lists for Patrick Phelan 1873 birth has entries for 1892/1896/1898 but there are a number of others born 1871/1875. Dates can vary so he could be any of them
Still quite a number of choices -
Do you know if he married ?
Did he have a brothers called Michael and Phillip ?

Not sure but I might have had a piece of luck on the passenger lists. Bearing in mind the information on the Anc..try tree which may or may not be correct - I tried to find the children.
On the SS Celtic from Queenstown on the 21 June 1914 we have the following Halligan family.
Mary aged 29 - John aged 6 - AAnnie aged 5 and Eileen aged 4.  The name of the nearest relative in the country from which they came was Aunt Ellen Quain of 2 Scotch Quay. Waterford.  ;D
