On the menubar at the top of Internet Explorer, click on:

View >> Toolbars and deselect them.

Down side, thank you for your help but could you please sort this one out.
My ISP is TalkTalk - I use Internet Explorer and Windows mail for my e-mail.  Having re-read the postings re: Google Crome, especially the one regarding deleting tool bars, I noticed that the home page on TalkTalk shows a small icon with "Enhanced by Google".  Would you recommend  changing my  home page - if so what do you suggest.  Or, are we all panicking over something which has been blown up out of all preportion, possibly by my original post?
Forgot to mention that I am using Vista until I can afford Windows 7

Ultimately it is personal choice.  My home page is http://www.google.co.uk/ because it such a simple layout and therefore it loads really fast as it does not have adverts.  I have the Menu Bar, Command Bar  and Status Bar showing on Internet Explorer.

I am a bit surprised by the views in this strand, which may mean that I am too naive.

I use Googlemail and am quite happy with it.  When Chrome came out I tried it and reckoned it was faster than Explorer and once I was used to it it gave me things that Explorer did not (but they may be catching up).

I ran into a problem downloading a GED file from Ancestry and they told me that it did not work with all browsers and that I should use Explorer.  Since then I have kept Explorer on my desk top for use in emergencies but I still prefer Chrome as my default browser.

My AVG antivirus updated a few weeks ago and installed Yahoo as the default search engine in an Explorer tool bar and I have not worked out how to get rid of it.  The new version of AVG is also slowing down Chrome and seems to prevent pages from loading, which is a bore.

So at the moment Chrome on my computer is not problem free but I do still like it and am persevering with it n the hope that the problems will resolve themselves at some time.

If I do eventually give up Chrome I shall probably try Firefox rather than revert to Explorer as my default.

a no from me too....
don't like the way google passes on your geographical location to websites as default!

Does this apply to every website one visits from a search on Google?  I have wondered why local link appears on some and it has worried me.

As far as I can work it out, it's not so much from a Google search, but from 'ads supplied by Google' on countless websites - that's where I get ads in the Greek character set popping up because I live in a Greek-speaking country.

They don't know your real name and/or address (unless you have registered with them for any of their services) but I understand that they do store data from your IP address.  Google are known for collecting background information on your browsing habits so they can serve up adverts they think might appeal to your interests.   I doubt they are specifically interested in 'me' - one person out of millions blundering around the net each day, but I unwittingly contribute to their tracking of trends.
