Do you know if this man is deceased?  If he may be living, his name will need to be removed from your post.

The Social Security Death Index (available for free at www.rootsweb.com and www.familysearch.org) has many deaths from the 1960's to the present.  If you find a likely match, you could try to find an obituary for that person.  A Google search (including Google's news section) or looking on a local newspaper's website may be helpful.  www.newslibrary.com has some obits from the past 10 years or so for a small fee, but you can often see the first few lines of it without paying.  Other low-cost/free options for finding obituaries are e-mailing the library where the person lived or looking for volunteers on www.raogk.org

Hi
You may also want to have a look at  fultonhistory.com   They have searchable PDF files of NY Newspapers.    I have found wedding announcements, obituaries and all kinds of society type articles on my family in NY.
Good luck searching,

I found an obituary for a Charles Clark in a Syracuse newspaper from 9 Jan. 1987, which may be the one you found the Social Security Death Index record for above.  It refers survivors being a daughter named Dorothy A. Chapin of Nedrow (who appears to be on the SSDI with a birth date of 13 May 1921 and a death date of 12 May 2001), a sister (I didn't add the name, in case she is still living), and grand/great-grand/great-great-grandchildren.  Not sure if that matches up with your guy at all.
