Swains of Scalford

It was pre WW2 and one daughter was called Frances.

Cant see a birth of a Frances Swain in Leicestershire ...

I have a Mary Swain B abt 1828 in Long Clawson, her father was William Swain
Mary married John Antill in 1852 at Barrow Upon Soar.  They had ten children, all with the middle name Swain (or double-barrelled Swain-Antill).  She died in 1879. 

Long Clawson is not too far from Scalford??

There may be some connection, I found the Swain family I was looking for on the 1901 cencus there are four daughters and two sons and the parents names are William and Mary Elizabeth.

I had idly put Swain into Google and came across one of your posts. This caught my eye as Mary (Swain) and John Antill were my great-great grandparents.

There is a link to a surname list on the homepage - follow the Antill or Swain names down.  Some of them changed their surname to White.  No idea why, but it has made tracing them on the internet v v difficult

I have been on the site before; it's brilliant and has filled in a lot of gaps.  I have got information on further descendants of Harry Swain Antill through Lillian Antill if that is of any use.
