If we take into account that before 1900'ish, names were spelt variously and there was a a high degree of illiteracy.

1. John Dey ch. 02 Apr 1815 Huntly , Abedeenshire
2. Isabel Dey ch. 13 Apr 1817, Huntly, Aberdeenshire
3. Margt Dey ch. 21 Mar 1819, Huntly, Aberdeenshire

www.familysearch.org.uk - all entries are 'extracted'. There is the birth of a William Dey attributed to your couple by a canadian submitter - address details on the IGI. b. 11 May 1827. The 'extracted record hads him born to a James Dey andd an Ann Elgin.
Looked for a marriage on both the IGI and Scotlands People - the only one with a James Dey/Day and an Ann/e - only brought up the one below (on the OPRs), which was anything near. The Canadian researcher appears to have accepted this as fact.
