New Park Infants School Harrogate

Jana

came across your offer from Feb '09 and hopefully it still stands.

Could you please check for my parents in the registers ..
Thomas Cooper
Muriel Cundell

I'm hoping they are both there. I attended the school myself, but not until 1955.

cheers ... Paul

Hi Paul

I would advise you reposting on the North riding board and give as much information as you can as to dates locations etc
or what ever info you have or your view of what might be. This will give a better chance of  getting replies to your post thread.

Dave
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi Dave ..

I would have thought that West Riding would have been more appropriate - Harrogate isn't in the North Riding, and indeed wasn't in "North Yorkshire" during the dates offered in the lookup.

I left Harrogate in 1964, still can't get my head around the fact that the Ridings no longer exist.

This request was in response to a specific offer, names on a spreadsheet, so hopefully the names I included will be enough to generate further info.

Thanks for the suggestion though - I'll see how it goes.

cheers ... Paul

Actually it can be either? Harrogate in the Parish of Carlow
& Knaresborough under the Acrhdeancory of Richmond Longdale
& Ripon/Leeds North riding
Also Bradford was North Yorkshire to 1920ish under dioceses of Richmond

Wakefield  Westriding and Pontefact -(Barnsley Sheffield Doncaster as was now South Yorkshire)

During the times mentioned in the original offer, Harrogate was - in 'common' terms - in the West Riding.

I think I'll leave my post where it is

Swales - Tollerton/Ripon
Groom & Pigg - Norfolk/Stockton

Sheer luck I saw your request. There were no messages shown for me. As suggested I put the offer on West Yorkshire because Harrogate was in West Riding at the time of the registers.
I can't find your parents. The registers run as far as 1939. You don't give a date.
You might be interested that the only Cooper and Cundell are:
Gertrude Cooper, born 04 06 01, 13 Park St, father Tom, came from Follifoot
Robert J Cundell, born 12 03 06, , Euclid Ave, father Robert
Sorry I can't be of more help.
