OK.
Forgot to mention the on the marriage records for Sheepshed, that we were discussing, there was no mention of spinster, widow, etc. So will have to assume John WAS the father and got a bit confused, or something was going on which was not recordable!
Have also googled Uppingham workhouse (for Medbourne William) - looks a nice place - do they still provide accommodation and do I need to book?! Tactful with description of some residents as 'imbeciles'!!

No Wendy, I found the site by googling it and came up with;
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/Uppingham/Uppingham.shtml
However, leads to same pages, just easier to find my way!  :P
Notice you research Skillings - used to work for a Terry Skilling @ the Prudential. He was married to Caroline, who was an educational advisor and is connected to Early Learning type shop in Churchgate Mews, Loughborough. They lived on the main road in Quorn.

Hi John, yes i know Caroline - i did a Meccano workshop for the children at one of her science clubs a couple of years ago.

My Skillings are on my mothers side and originate from Norfolk then on to Tyneside in the mid 1800s.
None of my family are from around here - I'm the first generation born out of Tyneside. both my parents are Geordies from Jarrow!  my dad came down to Leics after university.

Might see you on Thursday morning if you're in, as my car is in for a service in the Rushes, so have decided to do a bit more research.
