tomkins in staffordshire look up please

Hi I am looking for edward henry tomkins ,known later as just henry tomkins that said on his sons birth cert he was born in staffordshire, his death cert has parents unknown, he was born abt 1839 /1840 ,he was 2 yrs in new zealand and 30 yrs in victoria australia, he died aged 54 in 1894. he named his 1st daughter mary elizabeth annie tomkins and second born a son william george henry tomkins ,his wife was mary elizabeth ann haywood born northhampton , they married in otago new zealand in 1865 can anyone do a look up for 1851 he should still be in staffordshire , or for mary ,her parents were william and helen node i think , he worked on ships and would have left england abt 1860 ish   .I have all the victoria australia discs if anyone needs a lookup

I have found an Edward Tomkins living in Birmingham age 13yrs with cousin
Thomas H Tomkins age 24, wife Mary Ann age 23 and son Thomas 11mths.
It states Edward was born Wolverhampton Staffordshire.

thanks alyson ,I found that one also , but until I find his father and mother I can,t figure who thomas belongs to as he is his cousin  I think he is thomas hatton tomkins ,but not sure .thanks anyway colin cairns australia

alyson that 13 yr old is my best hope ,I am pinning my hopes on that one , I sent to new zealand for his marriage certificate , it is coming via snail mail ,so hopefully it will have his parents .cheers colin

Just a thought but do you know why Edward emigrated?
Is it possible he was deported? If so there may be records
related.
Agree about Thomas Hinton Tomkins, I presume you would know that his parents are
James and Mary Tomkins so if we are correct Edward's father could possibly be James'
bother.

Hi Colin,
I found the Marriage in NZ to Mary and am very happy you have sent for the Cert.

There is nothing on FreeBMD for Edwards birth reg. abt 1838 BUT a possibility that would not have possibly made civil reg

James may have married Louisa WOODEN in Warwickshire just after the Birth of Edward.
There is more I have found but until you have the Marriage Cert it is just all supposition.
They have several children born in Warwickshire, BIRMINGHAM

GEORGE, 1846

Just had a look at Mary on 1851 c
She is living with:
Samuel Tomkins 25
Elizabeth 25
Samuel James 3
Sarah Emma 1
Mary is age 11 and is described as Samuel's cousin.
This looks as James and Louisa passed away and the two children Edward and Mary were taken
in by the relatives.
Found quite a few poss deaths for James but not for Louisa in correct timeframe ie.1841-1851
It is possible that 'adoptive parents -James and Samuel are brothers.
