Looking for OXFORD family from Wolverhampton
« on: Friday 29 January 10 10:43 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information about grandfather Thomas William OXFORD born 1880 in Wolverhampton. Also his brothers William (b.1875), Frederick (b.1887) and James (b.1894).
A fairground family; father owned a travelling shooting gallery. No sign of them in the 1901 Census. Last heard of in South Wales (Fleur de Lis 1916, Milford Haven 1917 and Neath-Port Talbot 1919/21).
Thank you.

Thank you very much; that is (part of) the right family alright. This confirms that they were still in the fairground business in 1901.

Now to find the main man – Thomas William Oxford born 1880 in Wolverhampton – who is still missing. Also his brothers William (b.1875) and Frederick (b.1887).

I actually found where Thomas W and his brothers William and James were buried, near Port Talbot. James had settled there after WW1 and his two older brothers, who were still on the road, used his home as their base.

Where the three brothers were and what they were doing from 1891 until WW1 is still a mystery.

Thanks again.   :)
