Layout of Cambusnethan cemetery

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how the various sections of Cambusnethan churchyard/cemetery break down? I know it's a huge place and I have no objections at all to spending several hours wandering round a vast number of graves, but it would be useful if I could narrow down even to a couple of thousand.

Of the lair numbers I know were my family's, there are some very old ones with just numbers (I'm assuming the old churchyard for these); some in section C, some in section E, others with references like C16-4 or B9-16. I'm just wondering if anyone has found any of their own family and could therefore point me to a rough area (even narrowing it down to a quarter of the area would help!).

Like I said, I don't mind spending some hours wandering around looking for them (or for anyone else's if I can help :)) so I'm not looking for anyone to locate exact lairs for me or anything.

Alan, just go to the cemetery and ask the gravediggers, they are always very helpful.

I agree that the gravediggers are very helpful.  They pointed out the numbering on the end of the gravestones and stepped out a distance to find an unmarked grave.  It is a shame to see some of the gravestones in such a sad state.

Hi Kilsyth!
Noted your interest in Samuel Finlay and his wife Marion McQueen.  My paternal mother's line is McQueen who lived in the area you are enquiring about.  Samuel's wife Marion is as far as i'm aware is the elder sister of my G, G grandfather George McQueen b Cambusnethan1838 d1911.  Marion's parents were John McQueen b1800c d1859 and Janet Lindsay b1807 d1858.  I have the McQueen family tree going back to c1650 (Robert McQueen).  For your interest Marion's G, G, G Uncle was also a Robert McQueen b1725 d1799 who was better known as Lord Braxfield (the hanging judge)
