GOOD family Bures St Mary, 1700s and 1800ss
« on: Wednesday 27 January 10 23:27 GMT (UK) »
I am having trouble finding the records of several ancestors from Bures St Mary.

Joseph Good: Born in Bures St Mary in 1827, lived elsewhere from 1841 onwards, mother named Susan (maiden name unknown), father believed to be William Good (died 1840, Bures St Mary). It is his birth record I can't find.

Susan [unknown]: Born in Shimpling in 1801, resided as a widow and head of household at Smallbridge Farm, Bures St Mary in 1841, believed to have been married to William Good (died 1840, Bures St Mary), had 3 children: William Walter (1826), Joseph (1827) and George (1834). I can't find a marriage record, or birth record (without a surname).

William Good: Father, James Good (1740-1810), mother, Sarah Rudkin (1762), assumed to have lived on Smallbridge Farm, Bures St Mary, married Susan, had three children as above. I need marriage and birth details for him.

ANY help would be MUCH appreciated!

I forgot to mention, but James Good (William's father) was married to a Mary Killingback before Sarah Rudkin. I believe the Killingbacks have been researched quite a lot, as that is how I traced William's Parents!

Hello Serena, and welcome to Rootschat  ;D

In the time period that you are searching you may not easily find birth certificates but may have to rely on the baptisms in parish records of Bures St Mary church.

Smallbridge Farm is a little way out of the village going towards Wormingford and Nayland.  Smallbridge Hall across the road is a restored moated hall.

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Hello to all
I've just traced my son-in-law's GOOD family from 20thC Edmonton London back through 19thC Colchester to 17thC-18thC  Bures Suffolk.
Namely, to James GOOD b.1740 m.Sarah RUTKIN as mentioned in the thread, and his parents James GOOD b.1714 m.Mary GIBLING.
My reason for tracing the male line was to establish genealogy to go with a YDNA genetics test recently received, ie, I know which haplogroup this male line belongs to and am now further testing SNPs to link the genetics with the genealogy. Also tested was his autosomal DNA.
I have been an FTDNA Administrator and genetics consultant the past decade, and a professional genealogist for 20 years.
If anyone wishes to exchange info regarding this particular family, I'd be happy to oblige.
Thank you.
Best regards
William
