Message to lisingreece

Lis   I made a mistake I thought I had all the children of John Fauchon but am missing Elizabeth.  Could you please send me the details though now I have Northfleet I might find them myself.  I just reread your message and noticed the extra name.  In case you don't have them there is Jane b 1785, William b 1790 and Harriet b 1793 as well.

I have found a marriage for Elizabeth Fauchon to Henry Mitchell in 1803 and it was puzzling me too - so this would be her I think as Henry was the witness at two of the other Fauchon marriages and I thought this might lead me to my elusive Friend.

Bearkat  I think I am replying to people wrongly and perhaps they aren't getting the messages - I have been doing a general reply at the bottom of the set of messages and think I should be clicking on the particular message and replying separately.  Could you just let me know if that's correct.

I have found the other children's births on the Family Tree site I've been studying but thanks - I will look at the Northfleet site as now there is an Elizabeth to chase up as well.

You are most kind

Dear Lisingreece
Your message popped up just after I sent this.  So thank you, you've given me the information I need to carry on now.

Dear all who have helped me

I now have nine children, 4 born from 1770 to 1776 and then a strange 5 year gap followed by 5 more from 1781 to 1793.

Perhaps I will find my Friend in the gap!

You have all been so helpful - what a great site this is.

Sorry you must all be sick of me by now but I had so many unconnected things that are coming together.  In my notes I had John Fauchon Miller of Northfleet being made bankrupt London Gazette Jan 1777 and then it is mentioned again in Sept 1780.  This coincides with the gap in the children - would he have gone to jail - I don't know much about bankruptcy in those days.   You'll be glad to hear I'm going to be somewhere without a computer for 2 days from tonight.

Any reply to a thread will appear at the end.  If you wish to reply to a particular point use the quote button as I have done here.  :)

They took a dim view of bankruptcy in those days so John could well have been sent to a debtors prison.  The gap in baptisms could be due to miscarriage/stillbirth or they could have moved to another parish.

Thank you for your ongoing interest and help Bearkat - I am getting such a good history of the Fauchons in Kent but I still can't prove the family link for Friend.  I would kill for a will of John Fauchon, Miller!  As far as I can work out John had no adult siblings so I'm not expecting a kind uncle to leave anything either.  There are a couple of possibilities with the wills that I might follow up - I love the old wills anyway.
