Wood
« on: Tuesday 26 January 10 20:56 GMT (UK) »

Hi Everyone

I am trying to trace my great grandfather Edward Wood I believe he was born in Tregaron in Cardiganshire in 1845, but I can't find him on the 1951 or the 1961 census. I know he moved to
Pontypridd Glamorgan later on in his life and that he lived in London for a while. His son David (my grandfather) was born in Tylorstown Glamorgan in 1885.

Can anyone help on this.

Many thanks

David was David John

1901 for Pontypridd

Edward Wood 58 coal miner b Cwmystwyth Cardiganshire
Anne   59 b Penllwyn Cardiganshire
Evan T 26      ditto
Matilda   19   ditto
David John   17 b Tylorstown, Glamorgan
Edward Charles Nice 10 nephew b Southwark London
David Davies 21 boarder
Aaron Jones 19 boarder

I suspect you already have him back to 1871 but do you have a copy of his marriage cert to Anne which would show his fathers name?  His 1891 birthplace is Yspytty which was in the Tregaron registration district so you may be correct with the 1845 birth entry you found on freebmd

Hi Carole

Thanks for replying I can't find a marriage for Edward & Anne I am still trying and also going through
looking for a birth of Anne I think it is was around 1842 in Penllwyn Cardiganshire. I have find Edward if its the right one on the 1881 census living in Islington London with his brother-in-law.

I will keep checking.

Thanks again
